Out-Of-Context Ad: Things Are Getting Out of Hand

Filed under: Recycled Newspaper — Brian Lutz @ 1:16 am

This week’s out-of-context ad comes from the mid Fifties, and when scientists weren’t busy trying to find new and exciting ways to nuke the Soviets, they were apparently hard at work bringing us giant cartoonish hands to our evil bidding…  Or not.  What sort of world-changing breakthroughs might this scientist-looking fellow have been working on back in 1955?  As usual, the answer will be posted sometime next week.

As for this week’s Recycled Newspaper, apparently tomorrow I’m going to be incredibly busy dealing with some of that pesky real life stuff people have been telling me to get for a while now, so it will probably be a day or two behind schedule again.  For some inexplicable reason I’m still going to be hanging around in the late Seventies, looking at excerpts from a “Meet your Merchants” section from October of 1977 showing various businesses from Bellevue’s past (and a couple that are even still around.)  Watch for it in the next couple of days.
